In this course you will learn how to build data visualizations that provide insight into the nature of the relationships of interest within the data, as well as how to build visualizations to effectively convey the insights they discover, using contemporary tools. These techniques will enable them to create knowledge that empowers data-based decision making. Visualizations will use data drawn from business operations and business-relevant societal contexts, and include temporal and geospatial data. In many ways, it can be useful to think of this course as a data-visualization-centric communication class which leverages business, data, design, and communication concepts at their intersection
To be successful in this course, we recommend English language fluency and computer literacy. Knowledge of basic mathematical & problem-solving skills is also recommended. Learners should be familiar with the concepts of measures, dimensions, and types of variables in data analytics.
CIS 105 Computer Applications and Information Technology is strongly suggested as a prerequisite for success in this course.
Microsoft Excel is required for this course and not provided by ASU.

Accelerated College Courses (ACC) are freshman-level courses developed by ASU faculty and can count towards a variety of majors from engineering to business. Through this program, students can earn transferable ASU credit from anywhere in the world. All credits earned will apply to ASU and any accepting university. Courses are taken online and open to everyone, from High school leaners to high school leavers to adult leaners. No application fee, transcript or SAT, TOEFL, IELTS required to start the program.

This course appears on your transcript identically to how it appears on the transcript of an enrolled ASU student who has taken the course on one of ASU’s campuses. Course attendance dates will be listed on your transcript. A self paced course will appear on your transcript in the session you complete the course.
This course satisfies 3 credit hours at Arizona State University. It is strongly encouraged that you consult with your institution of choice to determine how these credits will be applied to their degree requirements prior to transferring your credit.
Typically you can take this from the 11th grade or after completing your 12th. No SAT, TOEFL or IELTS is required to take this course.

Required credit hours: Learners under 22 complete 24 credit hours, and those 22 or older only need to complete 12 credit hours with a 2.75 GPA or higher.

You’ll meet the aptitude requirements for general university admission when you complete your required courses with a 2.75 GPA or higher. If you’re under 22, you’ll need to complete 24 credit hours, if you’re 22 or older you’ll only need to complete 12 credit hours. If you have submitted an application and all required materials to ASU, you’ll be eligible for admission.
Please note, learners cannot earn admission while still enrolled in high school
